When Albert watches Hydee sing and play the guitar, it’s very obvious that he doesn’t even touch the strings half the time.
Well this French film is perfect!
I am French and I am the first to say that “All the films from France are so bad that they cannot and absolutely cannot make a great film… Only every 10 years we can see a good film from France”… Everything needed to make a great cinema film was there and I am very proud as a Frenchman to say that finally a French film is a masterpiece!!!!
I hope not only France can watch this movie and show other countries that France can make movies like this!
First of all the main story is great, everyone can watch this movie, it’s for all audiences, kids, teenagers, adults, seniors… the adaptation of the novel is really well done and it’s not easy to do especially when a big fan of the books expects a lot from the movie!!! But the script is so good, 3 hours of movie was not long at all, I didn’t want that movie to end, I got so into the main character’s journey, you want to know the next thing after every moment you don’t take your eyes off the screen, it’s crazy! The story of the character of Monte Cristo is so nice and touching and you pay attention during the whole movie to his story and it’s so gripping and 3 hours are perfect to discover the whole story (the beginning of life, the betrayal, the revenge…) the story is emotional and fascinating!

Pierre Niney’s acting skills are great in every movie he acted in and the other actors and actresses the same, even for Laurent Lafitte, I’m not that much of a fan of him but he did such a good performance in his bad character that I hope these two actors win a Cesar each at the end of the year. The director’s direction and the shootings were so nice, we weren’t used to having a direction like this in France and the two directors showed us that we could do it even if we didn’t have the same Hollywood budget, the shootings were very beautiful! Finally, the soundtrack, the makeup and the different costumes the actors wear were great, all these points were perfect thanks to the people who worked on them, there are so many things to say again about each thing but they are all good and tomorrow I will continue here to say great things about each feature.
