The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
Tale
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, attempts to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from the Bat-Signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where the heck was Batman?. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but failed. For his own series, however, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, with a preference for cigars.
An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros
logo. Appeared in Graham Norton The Gossips: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). The Batman, for my taste, simply has the best depiction of Gotham City put to film. The setting was disgustingly dank and visually everything you would want to see for what is known.
This series completely ramps up those aspects and builds on the film perfectly
A big part of that was its mafia underworld where Oswald, aka Penguin, was starting to take over. I can’t say enough about Colin Farrell’s performance in this and honestly, it might be his masterpiece. The guy gives the character the grittiest, bravest edge he can and it’s so well done that it resonates. Even without Batman, the intrigue from him is so strong that you don’t even notice.
I can just ignore that
The other supporting characters are pretty well done, although some of the casting choices seem a little out of place for some. This series continues to set up this Batman universe perfectly and I can’t wait to see where they go from here. One of the best series of the last decade, hands down. Give Colin Farrell all the awards he deserves for this role.
